Van Noy said in a statement he was both surprised and disappointed to hear that he was going to be breaking up with the Miami Dolphins. The team voted the veteran linebacker captain during his season with them but will now trade or release him. So far, the Dolphins have not made any public announcements regarding their decision. Despite that, Van Noy has confirmed it multiple times, and reports showed up saying that the Dolphins are going to explore trade options before releasing him.

Kyle Van Noy is 29-years-old and played 14 games for the Miami Dolphins last season, scoring 69 tackles, six sacks, 10 quarterback hits, and a career-high 10 tackles for loss. He also managed to force two fumbles, defended six passes, and recovered two fumbles.

While parting with their linebacker will save the Dolphins some $9.75 million for the next season’s salary cap, he’ll secure $15 million for playing one season in Miami. Like most NFL contracts, his four-year deal was not fully guaranteed. Van Noy left the New England Patriots to join the Dolphins. Flores was also the linebacker’s coach for the Patriots before Miami hired him to be their head coach in 2019.

In his statement, Van Noy also said that as a captain, he gave his all to the team and had to handle a painful hip injury during the season and even spend one night in a hospital after a game. Van Noy also stated that he was brought into the team to be a leader and knew his teammates were looking up to him and respected him. He then added that he was looking forward to making an impact on his next team, both on and off the field.
