Lonzo Ball had moments during last season with the Lakers where he really showed his potential. Despite many highlights, the Lakers didn’t feel like keeping Ball around, especially when they had the opportunity to sign Anthony Davis from the Pelicans. That meant Lonzo Ball was heading in the opposite direction, but he didn’t find out he was being traded from the Lakers in person; he found out the news on Twitter.

Sharing His Story
A couple of months after Lonzo Ball was traded from the Lakers to the Pelicans, he revealed in an interview with Big Boy how he found out. Ball said he was in the car with his family heading to his brother’s basketball game and someone decided to check their Twitter feed.
That’s when Lonzo Ball realized he was a part of the deal for the Lakers to get Anthony Davis. He said he doesn’t know about how everyone else found out they were being traded in the league, but that’s how he learned the news.

Stinging A Little
A move for Ball had been on the cards for a while, and in the previous two seasons his name came up in the rumor mill time and time again. Even though he might have been expecting the trade to happen at some stage, Lonzo Ball said he still “took it personally.”
He feels as though a basketball player should take it personally if their team no longer wants them, and that’s how Ball took it for sure. That could be the extra motivation that Lonzo Ball needs to take the next step in his career.
Lonzo Ball will get his first opportunity to show his coach and former teammates what they are missing when the Pelicans host the Lakers on November 27. Until then, it looks as though his time with the Lakers is up.
